La Fontana

A restaurant located at 15 E Mill St., Elora is gaining a reputation to rival even a number of Toronto’s best eateries. This is the La Fontana, and although being located in a quaint town, the interest from customers is ever-growing.

What is La Fontana?

La Fontana is a farm-to-table restaurant wherein their tasty dishes benefit from the healthy preparation of the ingredients. Tomatoes, basil, and other spices are grown in their garden boxes. Aside from that, they also support local produce.

The beer on their menu is from the Elora Brewing Company, and the cheese they used comes from a sheep farmer in their community. La Fontana offers a great view and tranquil ambiance with the Grand River nearby.

What is on the menu?

As mentioned, most of the ingredients in La Fontana are home-grown and locally produced. Because of that, the meals on their menu are made from scratch. They bake Neapolitan-style pizzas in a wood-fed oven at a high temperature. This helped the pizza’s crust attain the desired crispiness and made it even better by covering it with fresh toppings.

Some of their pizzas are covered with delightful toppings like duck confit, Brussels sprouts, prosciutto, and Grana Padano. However, the best item on their menu is the wild boar belly. Cooked for 24 hours, pan-seared, then oven-roasted, and drizzled in gooseberry chutney, this is a definite must-eat.

Why is La Fontana worth the trip?

La Fontana is an hour-and-a-half drive from the heart of Toronto. Though it may take a considerable amount of time to get there, knowing that there’s no other restaurant in Toronto similar to them is already enough reason.
